Hi. I am very interested in going into Financial Planning but am concerned about what may be a serious setback. In 2011 I had a rash of legal incidents. No felonies. Not finance related. A reckless driving charge, a DUI, resisting arrest without violence, driving with suspended license. I spent 8 months in jail then jail/rehab. No citations since, no alcohol. There is also history of an inpatient rehab stay from 2009 for the alcohol.
My question is, will this history bar me from any portion of the process of becoming a financial planner? Namely getting a securities license or any other licences in the process? Will this history hurt me in finding employment as I would be responsible for individual's wealth and disclosure of legal past, even if expunged, I'd think is necessary.
