Hey guys this is my first post, sorry if its in the wrong place!

Background: So I'm 26(M) and I live at home with my parents. I graduated 6 months ago with a Supply Chain Management degree and I'm working in procurement for a family business. I make 40k and while living at home I'm able to have plenty of extra income. I'm the oldest son in the family and my parents definitely do NOT want to move out and leave them. They are hoping to be able to depend on me financially in their old age. As of right now my dad is able to pay most of his bills on his own. Don't get me wrong I have no problem supporting them, I just want to get my self together first.

So after taxes, medical/dental, 401k I'm left with around $2,200 per month. I bought a car in cash. I pay for food daily (~$20/day), car insurance monthly($170), and student loans as well($270), as well as other various subscriptions. I should be saving around ~$1000 after all of that...but somehow I seriously don't save anything. Every month it's like something comes up.

I want to move out so that I can build my own home and prepare to get married and start my own life soon. But rent in my area is a minimum of 1500, then theirs utility, electric, water, groceries, internet, phone.

My question is how am I supposed to do this? I thought 40k was supposed to be enough to live on my own?

I could probably make more money if I look for another job, but this job hired me while I was in college and it has given me sooo much I would feel horrible abandoning it when I know they need me. I've been working here 3 years now. Plus it is extremely comfortable and amazing.
