Good evening all,I have a bit of a situation that I need to tackle. I have water damage in my kitchen on a few laminate planks. Our cat water fountain had a slow leak that we were unaware of and the water seeped into the joints of the planks. Obviously they are ruined and not worth even trying to fix. The floor was worn in areas from the previous owners too, so the whole first floor needs replacing as I don't think we could identify the material to replace the damaged planks. Oh, and the house is slab on grade, so I don't think it's unlikely we have a wood subfloor, but instead a concrete pad.I want to know that if this is a job that an unhandy individual can reasonably tackle. I'm slightly mechanically inclined, but definitely intimidated by doing a whole first floor. 600+ square feet. Should I be calling a professional? If that's the case, how much am I looking on average for cost? I'm terrified of the cost here. My wife found some flooring that we both like. It's like 1.50 a square foot. So with underlayment, we are looking at more than 1k in materials alone. We won't be taking on this project until the summer but I definitely need to start figuring things out. Thanks for any input! I apologize for the rambling as well. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2UoZQ6c
