Many of us still purchase nonessential items that we enjoy but may appear pointless to others. For example, I'll go to the thrift store and pick up a shirt because it's $3 and it fits well. This is particularly true when it comes I go into used bookstores or record stores. However, I've found that I've started to agonize and split hairs when it comes to deciding whether to buy something or not. What are your personal litmus tests for deciding whether or not to buy something that you'd like but may be frivolous?
