I’m 20 years old and I’m in the United States Navy and I recently filed my taxes to get my tax return for the fiscal year of 2018. My state of residency is New York State and that’s where I pay all my taxes through. For military NY state gives back 100% of all state taxes at the end of the year when you claim your taxes. I filed my taxes through TurboTax incorrectly and only got a very very small portion of what I was supposed to get and I found out that I need to make an amendment to my taxes after I get them back. I just finished getting all of my taxes back today and I want to get a jumpstart on submitting my amendment because I heard that it can take a while for you to get the money back. On TurboTax I accidentally submitted that I was living in New York state for all of 2018 even though I was actually living in Virginia for the whole time. How do I submit to get an amendment form and how would I go about filling it out for this type of situation I don’t really know exactly how to go forward and any help would be greatly appreciated.
