When I started earning, the first thing I bought was a TV. I had always dreamt of buying a TV and consoles and playing games in glorious 4k. While I initially enjoyed it, that phase lasted for a little while. I realized that I do not enjoy games as much as I thought I would. Furthermore, the TV got me into a dangerous loop - come home from work, switch on the TV and keep staring at it till you fall asleep. I had conditioned myself so well into this pattern that I never even considered what it was doing to my mind or my health. Few weeks back, I made a conscious decision to not switch on TV for some time. I immediately felt a peaceful and calming presence as my mind was free of cluttered thoughts. I started going out more and enjoying my city rather than mindlessly staring at a screen. I didn't realize the negative effects of being addicted to TV (or any tech in general).

It makes you cranky as we are so addicted to phones/TVs giving us continuous hits of dopamine that we don't know what to do when we are an inch outside of our comfort zone.
-
It makes you procrastinate on chores as your mind makes excuses to continue its addiction rather than being in a non addicted state of mind and do whatever is necessary to beautify your house.

You are not able to get rid of negative thoughts as your mind is now just a information hive and can't deal with this huge information overload.
I had already given up facebook. I don't have an affinity for phones. The only thing remaining which was making me addicted was TV and I am glad to get rid of it. Am I addicted to Reddit? Maybe a little.
