Title explains the gist of it. I'm in a bit of a pickle.

Family drama aside, I'm going to be living on my own in an indeterminate time (could be in the month, or months, or next year, I don't know, and my parents don't know either.), in New York City. I have a little over a year's worth of (retail) work experience, have saved up about $1300 (and about $1000 or so in my Roth IRA, but I don't really want to use that money on my current situation), and I go to college. I have free health insurance, pay for my phone bill and groceries.

My problem is that I need to find a place to live, fast, or not fast. I don't really know, and I wish I did. I don't have a credit score, because I never decided to open up a credit card, so I imagine that hinders my ability to find a place to live. I also don't want to drop out of college to get a second job, and to a degree, I can't, because if I did, I'd suddenly owe the school money they gave to me for free because of a program I'm in.

So, considering all that mess, what would be my best course of action? Is there an alternative to housing I don't know of besides paying for an apartment? And of course, any additional advice is appreciated.
