A while ago, I had posted here that I was unhappy with my current job as it was extremely stressful and I didn't feel that the salary had been worth it. I looked out in the market and found a few interesting things and applied. I got called into a company and interviewed and they were stoked on my experience and I nailed the interview. They offered me a "trial" position where I went in for (2) days and worked as if I was starting a permanent position there. The days came and I went in and worked. I enjoyed the time and learned a ton about the field (Fabrication shop). At the end of the time, they offered me a job. Unfortunately, the rate was too low to consider the move so I respectfully declined. They seemed surprised because most people that interview usually accept an offer if it is given. Now they are beating up my email inbox with counter offers and asking if I would like to possibly switch roles and go to another trial where the pay would be much higher. Having an employer actively seeking you out and badgering you to work there is a good problem to have!!! Interviewing or fielding offers when you don't NEED the work is the best negotiation tactic. The power is in your court. Of course, be mindful of how you play the game as you don't want to outright piss these people off or waste their time. Be transparent and upfront that you are currently employed and like your position/job/compensation. In the meantime, my current employer had lost a few good employees and seemed to realize that they needed to step up their game in regards to compensation and fair pay. Got a 20% raise and a larger Christmas bonus than expected. Not here to flaunt hopefully just to inspire you to keep your options open and sometimes to move vertically you have to move horizontally first!

TLDR; Got a job offer and didn't NEED to switch from my current employer. The power play is having the option and gives you the upper hand in negotiating pay and benefits.
