Hello, I was diagnosed with Aspergers in 2nd grade and it is a significant detriment to my ability to hold a job now at 22 years old. I'm looking into applying for disability and would like advice on that, yet there's a quite a few options: school, job placement programs, and disability, but I really don't know what to do.

Here's just some quick history: family was pretty dysfunctional, parents divorced and remarried other people, seven children between both couples and I am the middle child. My parents live to blocks away from each other so I always had ready access to both families.

Now in terms of financial aid for school, on paper I live with my mother, yet I actually have been living at my fathers home for the last four years. I attempted to move back a while ago but my mother gave my room to my younger sister and said I couldn't return. I can't qualify for financial aid for university without her information though, my dad and my stepmom make too much money even though they won't pay a dime for my college. I'm pretty sure it would be illegal to use my moms information regardless but her address is where my mail goes and my learners licence and voter registration all list her address. I have zero clue how to handle this situation.

I attempted college when I was living with her at the urging of my father after a six month break from high school, but my mode of transportation was taking the bus. It was a 90 minute trip each way and I was on medication at the time which made it all the more unbearable for me. I dropped out before census and got hit with a 600$ bill. I paid it back with birthday money but I never want to experience that again. I don't have a licence, I'm trying to get it done soon by this December.

After flunking university I discontinued medication, it was debilitating, and changed a lot of my lifestyle while living at my dads. I spent a year unemployed and doing really nothing until my appendix ruptured and I got hit with the after insurance payments for a 100,000$ medical bill for a week long stay at the hospital. I think it was 2000-4000$, I really don't know anymore it's been three years now. I never got a notice from collections, or at least I don't really know if they sent one.

I started my first job at Mcdonalds, lasted a year and a half and then jumped to Churches Chicken, then most recently Wendy's. I lasted a year and a half a the first job, six months at the last two. I was always the slowest learner and worst employee at all three locations. I had an extremely hard time and many mental breakdowns while I was working. I coped with friends and alcohol for a while but I inevitably deteriorated mentally.

Long story short, I never paid anything on the hospital bill, I have no credit card to my name, I have 800$ in the bank, I own no vehicle, at any given moment I could end up homeless if my family and I get into a bad argument. My financial life is dismal and I feel powerless to effect it, so I'm going for disability. Looking for any advice you can offer a disabled young person like me.

Tldr: Autistic, no clue what to do with my life.
