A few years ago I took out a loan from a shady place like a dumbass. I thought I had paid it all off. The worker told me that was it and it was all paid off. This year my grandmother was murdered. I found out she had left me about $2000. I really needed this money. I lost my job and have been unable to get UI. I do gig work but I don't make enough from that to pay my bills.
Well, when I went to the lawyer's office to fill out some paperwork they informed me I would only get $100. The predatory lending company filed a judgement against me. Apparently, I wasn't done paying the loan. The said that they informed me of a court date and I never showed up. I was never informed of a court date. They said I originally owed $100 but because of interest + court fees, I know own them almost $2000. I don't have any of the receipts anymore to prove I paid it off. So I'm shit out of luck. There is nothing I can do about this.
I needed that money to pay my bills and now I don't know what I am going to do.
TLDR: Fuck predatory loan companies and the people that work for them. They deserve to rot in hell. Do NOT ever take out a loan from these people. They will fuck you over seven different ways.
