All,
Long time lurker, just need a little guidance one what I should be doing.
- 19 Year Old Male
- Live with Parents
- 1 Credit Card open which I put work expenses on and a bit of petrol here and there (pay the work expenses off when it comes through to my current account) and the petrol when the statement comes through. Opened purely to boost my credit score.
I earn around £1400 a month, and my budget is laid out as follows.
£100 a week for spending, whether this be going out with friends, buying xbox games.
£40 a week for petrol to get to work and feeding myself at work (coffees, lunch, snacks etc.)
I have around £80 a month in direct debits, Spotify, Phone Bill, TV Subscriptions etc.
This leaves me with around £750 a month that I put into a savings account, or at least this is the plan...
I went away with my friends to Spain and spent near £3000 in the week (this had been saved up over 3/4 months) I had to replace the rear pads and dics on my car which came through at around £350, I paid my insurance in full early last month as I managed to get an incredibly good deal (£1500...good for me lol) the service is due on it this month which is another £180. I am off on a city break for a friends birthday in December so £500 or so of this months £750 is going to that. £250 will go in the savings account. The past few months the money has come in and then suddenly gone due to whatever. I don't have anything on 'credit' if you like, my car is fully paid off, my new iPhone was bought in cash from Apple.
The months running up to Spain I had no real required outgoings so the money was being put aside with no issues, am I going through a rough patch at the moment of required outgoings or am I the problem?
I'm not running up debt, but I guess I am not putting the money I would like to away and it seems to create a worried feeling in me, even though I am not in a financially bad position.
Am I living month to month? Should I be annoyed at the fact these required outgoings keep messing my 6 month financial plan up? Or am I being stupid? :)
Thanks for reading.
