On Monday my house was broken into, and my wallet cash and keys to my car were taken. They stole my car and I reported it to the police. The next day by chance, my mother in law was driving around our apartment complex and she saw our car locked and dumped. I called the police and they told me to wait and not touch the car. When they arrived the officer said that they would like to tow it for prints. I asked her if there would be any fees if they take it and she said there would be no fees. I then call the impound to check on the status of my car and they are telling me that I need to pay a towing fee to the company who towed it, as well as several other fees totaling around $500. I already had to sign up for AAA to rekey the car which will cost $200, and as I said my cash was stolen. I feel pretty awful right now I really violated by everyone involved. Do I have acourse of action? Or do I have to pay them everything to get my car back?
