This is my first project at my place so pretty new to all this! I have removed carpet from one of my rooms on my main level (so it's on a wooden subfloor, not concrete) and I am replacing it with luxury vinyl planking. However the difference between the vinyl and the tile in the other rooms will be just over 0.5". I have done some research and I was considering adding a plywood underlay to raise where the vinyl would sit and make less of a height difference.I was going to lay the plywood perpendicular to the existing subfloor. The room is just under 10, wide so I was considering doing alternating 8' + 2' sections. I would need about 4 rows and I was thinking it would go row 1 would be 8'+2' then row 2 would be 2'+8' then row 3 would be 8'+2' (same as row 1) and row 4 would be 2'+8' (same as row 2).Are there any issues with having alternate rows like that? I understand I shouldn't do the vinyl planking like that, but for an underlay does it matter as long as there isn't one continuous seam (like I shouldn't do just 8+2 down the whole floor)?I've included some pictures for reference. The underlay would be parallel to the window wall while the vinyl would be parallel to the long wall (perpendicular to the window wall). Also, just to reassure myself lol - I should raise the floor rather then just use a transition?https://ift.tt/2RMqkxC! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2CdO20u
