I am using a throwaway because I am active on my other account and many IRL friends know me.
I cannot talk about this to anyone because most of my friends work with me. If they know that my boss (M) is trying to sell it it may cause them to be afraid for their jobs and act erratically.
So M owns 4 restaurants in downtown. They are all super unique. M started them with their partner, but divorced in a pretty messy situation years ago. My boss has been trying to keep up with all of them, but wants total control, which is understandable when it is your money being thrown around. So it is hard to make any actual changes to the place because I am always having to go through M to do anything. M never wants to do anything new and different. We have had a lot of new places open up and sales have been lower in the last few weeks than last year, but overall compared to January-August of last year we are up 150k. I just took the position a year ago and credit most of the sales to me. We have a lot of off site large caterings that we have started to do and the old GM was rather lazy and said no to people because they did not want to do it.
Two days ago M asked me if I wanted to buy it. I was asked because M asked their financial adviser about selling and they said that you should always ask in the company first before looking outward. I have always wanted my own restaurant, but thought that it would be too far fetched for me to actually ever own one. I am in school part time to finish my bachelors degree while working for M. I have bad credit from my own bad divorce. I just never thought I would be able to own my own place. We talked to someone yesterday that helps people get loans that normally would not be able to get them and she is very confident that she can help me if I want to do it.
The question I have is how do I come to the answer of do I do this? Is there a person I can show P&Ls to that will guide me into making a decision? I feel very alone in this. M is asking 150k if that matters. I do have P&Ls until August. If there is a better subreddit to post in please let me know. Thank you!
