Hello everyone, i'm going to start my first year in college as a cs student. I'm in a country where tuition is relatively cheap. (1000EUR) My parents agree to pay for everything (tuition, housing (5k/year), expenses (2.5k/year payed to me at the start of the year) and clothes when i need them) I understand that they are really generous by doing this but I would like to be more independent. I'm not going to refuse them paying for everything but I would like to be able to pay my way through college myself if necessary. I only have 500 saved myself and will be receiving the 2,5k to live off soon. I can work a month during the holidays and make 1.5 k approx. How would I go about building up a reserve in case of emergency?
With an emergency I mean to start living completely on my own and pay everything myself. If this were to happen my tuition would go down (scholarship) to 100 EUR and my housing too: 1.2k/year. My parents also saved money for me i'd be receiving when I become 22 (20k approx).
