basement windowSo I have watched a few videos on how to trim a basement window. The concept seems simple. put the casing on all four sides then the trim on the wall. However Mine is weird. the window has a gap between the framing and the beginning of the window and then the first bit of the window is a slot. i assume it is not meant to be shown because it has writing in it.So in the photos I highlighted the slot in yellow. My main question is:is this slot meant for a 1/2" mdf or other board to go in as casing? (casing is what i assume goes on the inside faces)And if so.. you can tell from all the photos that there is a gap between bottom of slot and the 2x4 so any board i put in would be slanted. in the second photo i point out two board that if it weren't for the slot... I would assume I attach my mdf to.In the third photo you can see the gap is not consistent. that it gets wider the higher you go. So basically with all that info. how do I go about putting in mdf casing... my guess is to put it in the slot and then shim it in every awkward way before tacking it in? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2QmvP4K
