I called Capital One trying to figure out why my second credit card wasn't on my online account. After calling them they informed me that some of the personal information I had inputted on my first credit card was incorrect, most likely a typo. I then asked if the information that was incorrect was the date of birth, or the social security number. The customer service rep would not answer my question and I had to be transferred twice and was on hold for 26 minutes before anyone would answer me. I then found out it was the social security number that was incorrect. When I asked the supervisor I was on the phone with, how it worked out that I was able to get approved for a card if my social security number was wrong, he got very agitated and wouldn't answer my question. I'm still learning a lot about credit cards and personal finance, but the length of time and agitated state when trying to figure this out made me feel uncomfortable. Is it normal to be able to get a credit card with the incorrect social security number? I'm sorry if this is the incorrect sub to post this in.
