Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I found out January this year that I have a pilonidal cyst. One of the worst things to ever happen to me. Not sure if many of you are familiar with the condition. I've researched this extensively.
Anyways, I've had 2 failed surgery's because the method used was not good. I'm looking into a specialty surgeon who performs a newer surgery with a much higher success rate (cleft lift). The surgeon is one of the bests at this condition, I've consulted with him in June and he's amazing. I'm not willing to go with another surgeon as I felt very comfortable with him.
He is in Texas, I'm in Florida. My not so good insurance is Blue cross blue shield of Florida. It doesn't cover anything out of state, and only covers in network doctors/surgeons. My deductible is $5,500 and 20% co-insurance.
They wouldn't make an exception for me with my insurance as the surgeon doesn't even take my insurance to begin with.
So, I'm looking to suck it up and open up a credit card to help with some of the costs. The people at the office can give me a self-pay discount of like 20%. The total cost of everything (operating room, anesthesia, surgeons fee) came to just over $8,500. I have $4000 in emergency savings I'm willing to suck up and take out.
My TU score is 715, 1 recent baddie on my credit report (a doctor bill), a discover card that I pay in full,no missed payments, and $3000 in student loans, no missed payments.
What credit card should I be looking into? Any that are specifically meant for health care?
