A few examples:
1) growing up whenever I asked my parents how much money they make they refused to give me any sort of figure. This is frustrating for me because they tell me I need to budget but can't give me an example of how much a normal family spends on something like food or clothing.
2) now that I am older, they still refuse to talk about finances. My brother is college educated and quit his job to drive for Uber, he refused to answer how much he makes per month when I asked, I was considering doing the same thing.
3) it's still taboo to ask someone how much they make in an office at work.
Aside from the emotional constraints of people being shy or embarrassed about how much they earn, or they earn so much they don't want someone to be jealous. Why would we be afraid to discuss actual finances with someone? What am I missing?
