When I was a recent college graduate, I had to downsize a lot of my stuff because I was living in a shared apartment in a 10x10 ft bedroom. In order to fit all of my stuff into my tiny space, I purchased a combo futon bunk bed. I slept in the futon bunk on bottom, which could also fold up into a couch during the daytime, and used the top bunk to store the majority of my stuff that wouldn't fit in my tiny closet. Several years later, I'm living in my own 2 bedroom apartment and I still own it. I could go out and buy a 'grown up' standard bed, but I've grown so attached to it and it has become so useful. I still have stuff on the top bunk to help maximize space (though it doesn't look as junky as when I had a ton of stuff crammed up there in the tiny apartment), I hang curtains along the front and sides to make it feel more cozy, and I've cut my laundry bill in half by washing my closhes in the washer, then hanging my clothes along the frame of the top bunk to air dry. There's also plenty of space to store stuff underneath the bed too, which was the only advantage of a traditional bed frame.
