A few months ago I had paid to lock my credit report through Experian, and in the process I accidentally signed up for their monthly membership. I gave them a call to cancel the membership and while talking to the customer service representative I told him the membership most likely started when I paid for my credit lock. He told me that my credit report is unlocked on his end. (On my account it has shown locked since I paid for it a few months ago.)

I began asking him questions as to why there might be a discrepancy. He said there may be a glitch but wouldn't give me a solid answer. I told him that consumers are paying for this service thinking their reports are locked when in reality they aren’t' and anyone could have applied for a credit card etc. these last few months under my name. His response was yeah, but no one did. I was just wondering if any else has heard about something like this. It is very frustrating that consumers think their credit reports are locked and safe but in reality are not. This may not be the case for everyone, but it was for me.
