One thing I hate seeing on this sub, MMM, and many other frugality-themed forums is people who take things too far. Who deny themselves every last bit of enjoyment in life simply to save an extra dollar that they'll never have the time to spend once it's too late.
I'm not suggesting that people go to the movies every weekend, or you go on fancy cruises every year, but everything, including frugality, should be done in moderation. I've seen posts where people NEVER take warm showers, one of the most pleasurable things in daily life for the vast majority of people, just to save a few bucks per month. There are those who deny themselves satiating and delicious food just to save a few bucks per month. Some things ARE worth spending a bit for. Especially when you consider that certain things you save for, like travel, are much harder and less satisfying to do when you're ridden with arthritis and have heart problems at 70.
I even saw a post on reddit where someone whose husband was making over $300k after taxes per year worrying about spending more than $12k per year in expenses. Woman was scared to even get her nails done. Absolutely ridiclous and unneccessary level of frugality at that salary.
TL;DR Don't take frugality too far, guys. You save so that you can live a better life in the future. But don't miss out on your life now. Everything should be done in moderation.
