My sister recently bought a new car and has generously offered me her old car (which is significantly newer and better than my current car) at a very low price. Now, I'm currently considering how to move the car from TX to FL. The two options are obviously:
(1) Ship the car
(2) Drive the car
My initial preference was to drive the car from TX to FL -- treat it as a trip to see my sister and save on shipping costs. However, I'm wondering about the mechanics of that, because I'd have to call my insurance to add the car before the drive and I'd need to have the VIN verified in FL before registering it. For comparison purposes, I've also looked at shipping the car and I've been quoted around $700-$1,000.
In your opinion, is it worth it for me to drive the car and figure out the logistics? Or, just bite the bullet of the price tag and ship the car?
