I'm trying to get my finances in order and I know that a lot of my troubles come from my spending habits, so I'm trying to get that in order. I don't have a ton of money, so I find myself buying a lot of clothes from places like Target, Old Navy, etc. (I thrift but haven't been able to build my wardrobe off it it) that don't last very long or are poor quality. This also extends to things around my house too- I'll buy the cheapest kitchenware I can find but then have it warp on me.

I was in this local boutique type store the other day and found myself surrounded by lots of high quality, locally or artisan made goods that I found myself wishing I could afford one day. Nice pottery, artwork, perfume, etc. I'm working towards a better career but right now I'm not -poor-, but I don't have the money to drop $75 on a top right now so I buy 4 $15 tops that I end up not loving.

However, I'd like to be in the spot one day where I can save up and buy things that I know will last me a very long time or add a real contribution to my life. How can I shift my spending habits to reflect this type of purchasing?
