I am looking to make a $15.98 purchase at Best Buy. I decided that I would bring some of my extra coins to Coinstar and get a Gift Card (No fee) for Best Buy. I counted up exactly $15.98 and went to the Coinstar.
I went through the process to select a Best Buy Gift Card, and deposited my coins. It came up to $15.93. I'm positive that I counted right, but whatever, I threw an extra nickel in.
.
I hit the finished button to print my Gift Card.
Sorry, we can't issue a gift card at this time.
You will be issued a cash ticket, minus a $1.91 fee
.
Are you fucking kidding me? There were no other options, all I could do was take the $14.07 cash ticket. Because of Coinstar's error I was charged a fee?
Don't use Coinstar for "No Fee" Gift Cards, unless you are 100% willing to lose 11.9% of your money.
And who knows, maybe these machines are programmed to "have an error" so they can screw you out of your money.
TLDR; fuck Coinstar.
