I have about 450 sq/ft of tile, and about 700 sq/ft of carpet on the first floor of my home. I'm planning to replace it all with Luxury Vinyl Plank. The tile and concrete backer board is 3/4 in. thick, so once I remove the carpets, the bare subfloor in those areas will be 3/4 in. below the tiled area.I want a level floor and I'm willing to put in the work/money to avoid transition pieces, so my options are to either tear out the tile and backerboard down to the plywood subfloor, or level the tile and raise the rest of the subfloor with plywood or OSB. If I remove the tile I'll probably also need to fill the new gaps below the door trim, or just replace the trim.Does anyone have experience with these two options, or any recommendations? What's the bigger headache, tile removal, or adding new subfloor? Any unforseen consequences of either approach I may not be considering? Thanks so much for any information you can share. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2qGzwXK
