Hello! I am 18 years old, graduated class of 2017. I am currently attending community college. I have one slight issue: I can’t afford to go to college. My parents make a lot of money ($100k combined) but problem is they are awful with their money. Instead of maintaining good credit, they spend their money on stupid stuff. Both of my parents credit is awful. They have made it very, very clear that they are not helping me at all financially with anything to do with college. I do not want to join the military as I personally don’t think I should have to risk my life to get a degree. I currently work at hospital making $18 an hour before taxes. I’m trying to save up, but I have rent (I moved out because I was constantly fighting with my parents), car payment, insurance, etc.
I want to attend a university, problem is I don’t think I’ll be able to. Do I have to do the FAFSA under my parents information? Can I get loans and stuff without them? I assume I’ll have to attend my state college... How screwed am I?
