I recently bought a condo and noticed that the two bedrooms each have an unusual pair of wires coming out of the wall. Btw, the location is San Diego and the home was built in the 70's.I've asked a bunch of people that work in construction related fields, and the pics that I'm sharing now have left them all stumped. In the first 3 pics, it shows the wiring with the cover on. I decided to explore what was underneath the cover. The next two pics show what I found underneath. It looks like there are two coiled metal tubes that run out of the wall and down to the faceplate below. Whats odd is that one tube comes out of the wall about two feet above the other. The last two pics show the faceplate which is near the floor. Those metal tubes are being held by a bracket and coming out of the center of those tubes are two wires. I tested the wires and confirmed that there is no electricity flowing.I asked my neighbors and no other units have these. I'm really eager to begin painting the walls but I'd really like to remove these wires first. I've been temped to cut the wiring, push the end pieces into the wall, and patch right over it. Of course I cant do this without knowing for sure that this isn't something that shouldn't be cut. Any info on this would be helpful. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2FwDHyB
