I'm so glad I found this sub! I often find being frugal to be a game, as my husband and I both have advanced degrees and the debt that accompanies them and we're trying to pay it off quickly. Anyway, I am expecting our first child in August and am trying to figure out what's ok to buy used and what needs to be new.

So far:

I got a new crib and new mattress through the Facebook marketplace from a woman whose adoption fell through (very sad) for $100 it converts to a toddler bed and I have all the other pieces.

I got a glider and foot stool for $50 from the Facebook marketplace. I've cleaned the fabric and it looks almost new.

We're good on furniture as we have an elderly relative who was looking to get rid of a dresser, which we are doubling as a changing table.

I feel that a car seat has to be new because they expire and you never know what else someone went through.

While we're trying to be frugal about this, we're also of the mindset that quality reigns supreme, so certain things we won't skimp on.

We will be cloth diapering and breastfeeding if I am able.

Any other suggestions would be great! Daycare is going to cost more than my mortgage, so everything I can save here is paramount!
