I started making bone broth for health reasons but it is also very frugal and delicious to boot. I save bones in the freezer (chicken, pork, beef) and sometimes buy cheap bony cuts. I have a wood stove so I throw a pot of water on the stove, add the bones, some salt, and any vegetable peels, stems, etc. that I have around. If it is a meaty cut I will strip the meat off when it is cooked and throw everything else back in. Meat can be used a variety of ways. The broth is full of electrolytes and is great for people recovering from colds or flu.
