I'm on my first job right now. I live in Mumbai, which is a pretty expensive city to live in. My rent itself is 16,000 Rupees, for a single room in an apartment shared by 3 people. I used to travel around in shared cabs and carpools. My travel cost one-way to my office would be around 45-50 Rupees. Since it was shared, it would take around 45-50 mins to travel just 6 Kilometers(also the traffic is unbelievable). Decided to buy a bicycle. Got a good sturdy one at 8500 Rupees, which includes service for 2 years. My monthly travel costs have come down by 4000-5500 Rupees! And I'm getting my daily dose of exercise too. Over all this, my travel time is just 23 mins now. Feels really good! :) My bike already paid itself back in 2 months. I hope you try it too.
