Hello Redditors,

I am in need of some knowledge from all of you smart people!

I am a Contractor who works for a U.S based company. I work overseas in the Middle East/North Africa region with a work schedule of 60 days on and 60 days off a year. (3 rotations/yr)

I currently have a permanent residence in Tennessee and was looking at possibly changing that so that I could apply for the FEIE.

I have looked at possibly moving to Australia, Canada, or Japan (in that order) I do know that you have to be outside of the U.S. for more than 330 days to claim this tax benefit.

My question is: Would I have to pay any additional taxes while residing in any of these other countries? (ex. ATO in Australia)

Another question that I had is if I owned the same home in Tennessee while living overseas. Could I rent it out and claim that as an income? Would I have to pay taxes on that as well?

I do know that any income over $100,800 is the only income that is taxed and that is ultimately what I am trying to do.

Any information or help would be greatly appreciated! Especially if you have been in this situation or are a contractor.
