Hey guys, thanks in advance for any advice or pointers. So I'm working for a company of around 150 employees in North Carolina. I'm an hourly employee and make $14.50/hr before tax and regularly get my 40 hours from Monday - Friday. Recently my bosses have been asking for extra help over the weekends and offered me under the table, untaxed cash at the rate of $12/hr. Being that my after tax, take home pay is around $11&change, I didn't think this was a good deal for me and confronted my bosses. I was told at best they could give me $13 untaxed for this weekend work. My issue, of course, is that I beleive I should be payed and taxed as normal for hours additional to my 40. Correct me if I'm wrong but if paid my correct overtime, shouldn't my take home for this work be over $16/hr? Am I in the wrong here or do I have a valid argument? What should I do to confront my bosses and get this addressed?

Edit - my boss has pitched this to my team and I as "any opportunity to make some extra money" my argument has been if I'm working over 40 hours, than this untaxed cash payment is not the correct rate based on my current hourly rate.

Thanks!
