My "annual" review is coming up at my place of work. I have a couple factors that I would love some advice on how to deal with. Here's some facts:

-The company operates primarily with a fixed-rate base salary per your seniority in the position you fill.

-For example, I got a promotion 6 months after being hired, so I was bumped from the 1st year job A salary of $32k to the 1st year job B salary of $35.5k.

-This summer I was out for drinks with the assistant director and a couple other people in my department (I knew the assistant director before he filled this role, in this instance it was a casual going-away gathering for a coworker who was leaving) during this time, the assistant director openly told us that one of my less senior coworkers (by almost a year) with the same qualifications is earning $40k for moving into job B. He told me he is "trying" to get all of the people who are in job B to be matched at $40k.

-I put "annual" review above because I have been with the company for 1.5 years, but because I was promoted 6 months after being hired, the clock reset for my review slot. This is my first formal review, and they are almost always accompanied by a raise.

-The review is performed by my direct supervisor. This person has been chosen as my supervisor because he is one of the five supervisors that my assigned shift sees most frequently. I know for a fact that this supervisor does not like me personally, as he has openly shared this opinion with others in the company. I am worried about his ability to review my work in an unprejudiced way.

-I'm looking for advice on how to ask for the $40k, and what I should do if they want to play hardball. I could...

A) Look for a job in the same field with a higher offer to waive at them, however I really don't want to stay in this field as I am earning my degree in another unrelated field (Marketing) this spring.

B) Not make waves and suck it up if they don't offer $40k, as the Marketing department at my company will be hiring a junior level associate in the next few months, and I really like the company I work for despite disliking the particular department I'm currently in.

C) Ask for someone else (such as my supervisor's supervisor) to complete my annual review, because I fear my supervisor's ability to remain neutral. He can be pretty hostile/snappy to me in addition to his personal distain.

-I have kept an ongoing log of measurable instances of how much I have saved the company in the past 6 months and other notable accomplishments. For example, from 7/24-8/24 I saved EXACTLY (with receipts) $2917.10 for correcting airline flights that had been booked in error. These are flights that others so are also in job B are being paid to book, and have not had the attention to detail to do them without error. The point is, I have very detailed records about exactly what I spend my time doing at work, I KNOW that I have personally saved the company the $4500 I feel I deserve to be matched in salary.

Sorry for the long rant... I'm nervous about this as I've never negotiated a salary or much of anything else in my life, and I don't want to come off sounding like "well SHE makes more than meeee!" or what have you.

Thanks in advance for any input!
