When I first started working with my current company in Chicago four years ago, I did not own my own vehicle and was utilizing buses to get to and from work. I enrolled in a pre-tax mass transit benefit account that my company offered which is managed by BriWeb.

This one is on me, but I eventually purchased a car and forgot to opt out of the benefit program. By the time I realized a small percentage of each paycheck was going towards this benefit account, I had accrued $1,350. After speaking with BriWeb customer service, it sounds like there is no way for me to be refunded and this balance can be used for nothing but mass transit, which I do not use any longer.

Clearly my fault, but is there any loop hole here or is this $1,350 stuck in this limbo account for eternity?
