Hi all,
I recently started a new job at $60k yearly. My parents live about 5 hours away, but now visit my city more often because my sibling started going to school here as well.
A thought we've had is that maybe I could get a townhouse or something, in which they'd help me out with $$$. I'm not sure how much exactly yet. That way, they would stop paying for hotels and can stay with me.
Currently, I live in an apartment, sharing it with a roommate and I pay $550 which isn't bad. I was thinking about moving out (I'm ready to live on my own) and rent for a place that has the amenities I want are around $1000 a month (w/o utilities/etc). I also have about 27k left in student loans.
Thoughts?
The price range my father told me to look at is around $150,000. I'm very offhandly looking at places so not super super dedicated. But would like advice. I love this job and really see myself here for a long time so security with that is fine. It's just the money and taking on a mortage at 23, just not sure what to do. Or should I just continue to rent for another year or so. I'm moving out of my current apartment in the spring so I can either find a new apartment for 6-12 months or work with my parents to buy a place.
Minneapolis market, btw.
