I am paid hourly, not salary. I am currently working through a recruitment company for another company. The company I am working for will not allow me to report more than 40 hours a week because they do not want to be billed for overtime. I told them that I have no problem working the extra hours, but I must be compensated. They basically told me that if I can't get all of my tasks done in the 40 hours, it is my "duty" to finish everything, even if that means working nights and weekends. I am unsure where to go from here, or what steps to take. I like my job, but do not think it is fair for them to expect this from me, especially as an hourly employee. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
