My fiancé and I are planning on buying a brand new car either in 2018 or 2019. We're not in a huge hurry to buy a car, because we both have used cars that were passed down to us by our parents. They're working, but outdated.
We're both in school right now and together we only have a total of $6,000 in savings. Next year we will have $26,000 in savings if we keep it up. He's planning on getting a new job that pays well with his degree. He has 3 job options and we're not sure which one he'll land so I can't tell you how much he'll be making.
He wanted to start off with something affordable like a Toyota Camry, but we have both wanted a nicer car like an Audi A6 (pretty much double the price). We don't really need the new car immediately so I've been thinking about telling him to wait it out. I'm not good with financial planning so can someone tell me if it's a good idea to wait?
