I normally post here under a different username, but wanted to remain anonymous and that's why I'm posting in a new account... but here's the story:
- Bought a condo 5 years ago out of foreclosure
- Renovated it (had to pay cash for those expenses)
- Had roommates for the first 3 years
- Used rental income and my own money to pay it down faster than necessary
- Was about 2/3rd's paid off, but towards the end, some of my equity investments did well this year and so I used it as an opportunity to reduce my position and pay off the rest of the mortgage
While I still have property taxes, insurance, and HOA fees, my mortgage is finished and that's a point of pride for me. I thought about keeping the money invested in the markets to earn a higher rate of return, but ultimately decided I just wanted to have it paid off for my own happiness.
Here is a screenshot with the final payment :D
