So my friend got a new job making $800/week in cash as a nanny for an extremely wealthy family. They do not file any taxes for having a household employee, and she does not plan to file any taxes either. I have tried to mention that this seems like a bad idea a few times, but she brushes this off because they have had previous nannies who also didn't get taxed. The family is also paying for a lease on a brand new car for her, in her name, to help her build credit. I feel like this would be a red flag to the IRS as she is reporting no income but can somehow afford a $500/month lease? Maybe I'm just jealous, but I'm curious to know what the potential consequences she faces are if she gets caught. Is the risk worth the reward?
