I was just making cocoa mix at home. I grew up with 'Make a Mix' cook books ( a series of books from the 60's or so that my family kept on using for generations at this point) and it got me to thinking that other people might have some good ones I have not thought of or tried yet.
A few of my favorites:
Cocoa mix Homemade vegetarian dry bouillon replacement Single servings of instant oatmeal for camping Granola Mustard Homemade marshmallows Faux Yumm sauce
I have found that a lot of what we buy pre-made can be made both more inexpensively as well as better tasting at home. Plus certain items can double for others (if I make homemade dry creamer I can use it in my cocoa mix, I can make a dry latte mix for camping, or because my version uses dry milk I can also make my instant oatmeal packets with it). I really want to know what other people's favorite homemade items are that stand in for things that are so often store bought pre-made.
