I've decided to paint my 55-year-old guest bedroom furniture, it's a light chestnutty color. This will be my first time painting furniture and I have no clue about paint except for what I've read. I had a game plan in mind, but then the helpful man at Home Depot gave me a less expensive tip that also seemed to be a lot easier than my initial plan. He said if I mix paint thinner with rustoleum oil based paint, it will mattify the paint somewhat. I just don't want a super glossy finish, and he said this would do the trick but I'm skeptical because I'm having a hard time finding anything on google about this concoction. This is what I bought: http://ift.tt/2mOV5D4 also said that theres no need to sand; just give it a good wipe down with a scotch brite heavy duty scour pad.I know rustoleum makes a chalk paint but its twice the price, and it'd be nice to save some money! I'm very new to this so please let me know if you'd like any further info! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2n4JF0f
