I have about 5000 miles left on my truck tires before they become unsafe to drive in wet weather. I have shopped around for prices for new tires. The tires most stores recommend, and market as top-of-the-line, run about $850-750. The lowest price I've found for a generic tire brand is $550 for a full set. The higher quality tires also have a longer warranties.
I plan to be driving around 5000 miles/month for at least the next few months, including some long-range trips. For a significant portion of that times I will be hauling weight in the truck bed and may be towing also, but I do not expect the payload to exceed more than anout 50% of the truck's rated capacity.
