I have an (at least) 8 year old Laptop that I'm thinking of replacing.

This probably sounds positively ancient but because it was a higher end model with more than enough RAM it runs OK for our needs.

However the hinge is busted and cannot be repaired so the screen is propped up. Also several of the chiclet keys no longer work so an external keyboard/mouse is used. At this stage it's no longer a laptop but a desktop. :)

I've been getting the itch to buy something more modern but am curious if I should hold off on purchases until the CPU bugs have been removed from the hardware.
