Hey Redditors. Not usually one to ask your guys for financial advice being 20 years old and all, but I ran into a pretty substantial speed bump. My girlfriend and I live together and we pay $1995 for a 2 bedroom. So naturally, we decided to live with her friend (let's call her Sarah) and split the total to roughly $665 for each person. Well, Sarah split and left us with her $665. So after a very difficult discussion, she decided to pay us $300 and the replacement that we found would only have to pay $365 for the half of the month that Sarah left us with. The next month, after everything settled, Sarah's check bounced. So on top of the $1995 we're still trying to take care of, late fees and utilities, we have to pay the fees for her bounced check and her $300 she said she would pay.
There's the story. I'm currently jobless and my girlfriend is a Starbucks barista. After talking the building managers, I got a rent extension until Monday but we each have to come up with $450 more. They won't take partial payments and it's pay or quit. So pretty much...$450 each or homeless.
Any advice? Should I sell some stuff before Monday? Haha any ideas or comments are welcome. Appreciate it everyone!
EDIT: We sat down. Faced facts. Grabbed our crotches, and now we're going to get out of this and learn as we move on. We know it's going to be pretty fucking awful, but you guys truly gave us perspective. I keep saying "adulting" like I know what it means but I really don't. But I'm about to find out and actually be one finally. Redditors, you have truly given us tools to start right. Thanks for the kick in the ass. I'm not going to be here again.
