Is it more beneficial to have a septic tank or be hooked into the city sewer? I feel like septic tank will be cheaper in the long run, but the city sewer is more convenient. To throw a wrench in the question, we live on a hill side down from the city sewer so we would have to have a grinder pump to pump the sewage to the sewer. Note: I do not have installation/maintenance prices for either system at this time. I know this comes down to a preference, but I am interested in maybe seeing this from a different angle. Does anyone have any insight on this decision? Thanks in advance.
Extra Info: My tank is still working, but it is under the foundation. The previous owners added a back room to the house on top of the tank, but luckily left a clean-out accessible. I am not sure which option to pursue if/when something happens to this tank.
