When Coach started in 1941, they made men's accessories. Mostly small leather goods: bill folds, wallets. As the business grew, so did their reach - introducing the now ubiquitous women's handbags in the early 60's. To this day, those handbags are still at the core of what the brand is known for.
That being said, I want to draw your attention to their Men's shoes. Coach has solid line of men's shoes that go on sale annually. During the winter sale this year , the boutique pricing has come down 50%. What does that mean for you?
Penny loafer for ~$160 after tax
Compare to Allen Edmonds penny loafer at double that and rarely goes on sale for under $200
Combat boots from their runway line at $200
Full leather construction, THICK leather, with aggressive and unique runway styling, and built like a tank these are BIFL quality for only 200 bucks. Are they as versatile as, say, captoe service boots from Wolverine? Hell no. But for fashion forward these are a steal
Double monk strap in italian suede with genuine blake construction for ~$170
So as you can see, if you are in the market for FULL LEATHER CONSTRUCTION, BIFL-grade shoes these are some honestly incredible values.
A comparable quality shoe at full price is at least $350 and frankly may not have the spunk or style of Coach which IMO has done a complete turn around this year and feels very on point with their dress and semi-dress boots and shoes.
Hope this was of interest to some of you guys who are on the look out for frugal deals. I see these as a huge value for the design, materials, and construction. Let me know if you guys feel the same way or think I'm full of shit.
