My brother (who is a lawyer) lectured me when I said I’m going to be putting my entire salary towards paying off my student loan debt. He said everyone has it, lenders don’t even look at it, you can reduce the monthly payments to be extremely low, or that there are endless forgiveness options. He pretty much said it would be dumb to spend my money paying them off.
Is this true???
ETA - should I be prioritizing paying them off like this? Or should I just make the payments throughout my life and invest in other things?
