My mom found out a few days ago she has a heart aneurysm and today that she also has several blockages and other heart problems. She needs an emergency preliminary surgery which might happen as soon as Wednesday.
I live about four hours away from her, and with short notice none of my friends can drive me and bus tickets for Greyhound and Red Coach (the only long distance buses in my area I know of) are sold out. I could try to take chain public transit or hitchhike or something but I would like to be able to bring enough luggage that I could stay as long as she needed me.
I checked Hertz for rental car prices which start at $250 a day. I’ve been having my own health issues for months so this would essentially bankrupt me. I’ll still do it if there’s nothing else but it’s a last resort at this point.
I don’t know what to do, all I know is that I need to be there. Please, if you have any advice or ideas, I would really appreciate it.
Sorry if this isn’t the place. I’ve been writing this in between bouts of hyperventilating and sobbing. It was the only relevant sub I could come up with.
