I’m applying for an internal position in my company and went through the first round of screening with a HR specialist (she phone interviewed me) and asked me about my salary expectations for the job which I was NOT prepared for. I was expecting to be asked that question at the actual interview with the hiring manager the next week so that I did more research on the negotiating process.
So when I was presented with the question, I freaked out because not only was I unprepared for the salary range, I shot myself in the foot and answered with, “I’ll be happy with whatever salary I am offered”.
Will I be able to renegotiate at my actual interview again if the question never comes up?
